You don't step cold into the test. For 1–1.5 hours before your slot we drive the roads around the centre so your mirrors, biting point and nerves are all settled before the examiner sits in.
Last-minute tips
During the practice drive we run through the tell-me-show-me questions and the little habits that catch people out. Then the last ten minutes before your slot are deliberately quiet — you walk in calm, not cramming.

Can I rent a car for my driving test at Tallaght?
Yes. Test car hire at the Tallaght test centre is €170. It includes 1–1.5 hours of practice before your appointment and last-minute tips from your instructor, in a fully insured, dual-controlled car that meets the RSA's requirements. Meet at the centre, or get picked up from home if you're within our area (arranged when you book).
How much does test car hire cost?
€170 for the Tallaght test centre. That covers the car for your test slot plus 1–1.5 hours of practice beforehand and a final run-through of anything you want to sharpen up.
Is the hire car insured and does it have dual controls?
Yes. The car is fully insured for the test, dual-controlled and maintained to the standard the RSA requires. If your own car doesn't meet the RSA vehicle requirements, hiring ours takes that worry away.
Is the test hire car manual or automatic?
Both are available — tell us which you need when you book. One thing worth knowing: if you sit the test in an automatic, your full licence will be restricted to automatic vehicles (category B, code 78). Test in manual and you're covered for both.
What do I need to bring?
Bring your learner permit and your driving test appointment details. For the car you rent from us, we handle the insurance and vehicle documents — including the proof of insurance the RSA requires for the test car from 9 March 2026. See the full test-day checklist.
Can I practise in the same car before the test?
Yes, and it's a real advantage. If you do your pre-test lessons in the same car you hire on the day, you walk in already familiar with it — mirrors set, biting point known, no surprises.
Do you hire test cars at other test centres?
We're currently offering test car hire at the Tallaght test centre, where Kris meets you directly. If you're testing at another Dublin centre, call us on 087 394 8102 — we're adding more centres and will tell you what we can do.
