The geography makes the argument by itself. The R113 that runs through Clondalkin as Fonthill Road South crosses the Naas Road at Newlands Cross and becomes Belgard Road on the Tallaght side, part of the ground learners cover before the test. The road on your doorstep leads, quite literally, toward the test centre area.
Distance helps too. Tallaght is about 5 km from Clondalkin village, a 10 to 15 minute drive in normal traffic. A late-stage lesson that starts at your door can spend most of the hour on the Tallaght side instead of burning it in transit. Early lessons stay local; from pre-test onward, sessions finish around Belgard Road and the streets near the centre, so on test day the area feels like home ground rather than new territory.

One honest caveat: waits at Tallaght are real. By mid-June 2026, 160 tests there had been cancelled since the start of the year, according to the Irish Times.
